Drug arrests at Murrow Park

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report of a male who was unconscious at Murrow Park in the Town of Pawling on July 27 at about 9 a.m.

When deputies arrived, they discovered Cage Schmidt, age 17, of Pawling, at the Pavilion in the park. In his possession was a marihuana water pipe, a baggie containing an amount of marihuana, and an air-soft type gun that looked like a shotgun.
In the nearby area there were a number of subjects camping in tents, and the area was littered with garbage. Subsequent interviews of the subjects revealed that there were quantities of marihuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms divvied up for sale.
Arrested were Schmidt, age 17, of Pawling, and Richard J. Brasel, age 37, of Franklin Park, N.J., for unlawful possession of marihuana (Violation). They were issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Pawling on Aug. 13.
Also arrested were Michael Galindo, age 16, of New York City, for criminal possession of a hallucinogen with intent to sell (B Felony), criminal possession of controlled substance (A Misdemeanor), and unlawful possession of marihuana as well as Emma Hunter, age  17, of New York City, for criminal possession of a hallucinogen with intent to sell and unlawful possession of marihuana. Galindo and Hunter were arraigned before Town of Pawling Justice David Daniels and remanded to the Dutchess county Jail on $2,000 cash/$4,000 bond.

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind people that air-soft style guns are firearms under the Environmental Conservation Law. Such “look alike” guns are easily mistaken for more dangerous firearms, and can be perceived as a threat to life safety by police.
